実験の結果、鬱病の被験者は、鬱病でない被験者に比べて、最適戦略にはるかに近い戦略をとった。健康な被験者が示した最大の問題は、怠惰な傾向があり、十分な数の選択肢を検討しようとしないことだった。これに対し、鬱病の被験者は、選択肢を検討し続けようとする傾向がはるかに強く、タスクの成績がはるかに良かった。
